The Cleveland Guardians played the middle game of their three-game series against the Chicago White Sox tonight. The Guardians picked up a 1-0 win last night over the White Sox. The lone run came on a walk-off walk by Nolan Jones, who the Guardians acquired back on March 22nd from the Colorado Rockies. The Guardians will have Logan Allen on the mound tonight, he is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. He will be opposed by Sean Burke, who is 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Guardians recalled outfielder Angel Martinez and optioned outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez to Triple-A Columbus.
Martinez, through eight games at Triple-A Columbus this season, is hitting .344 with a .855 OPS. He has six doubles, eight RBI, seven runs scored, and a stolen base. Last season, he spent time at rookie ball and Triple-A. In 58 games, he hit .266 with a .793 OPS. He had 16 doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 27 RBI, 38 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 27 walks. He also played in 47 games with the Guardians in 2024. Martinez hit .232 with a .635 OPS. He had seven doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 15 walks.
Rodriguez in four games this season has yet to record a hit. Last season, he spent time at Triple-A as well as with Cleveland. In Columbus he played in 118 games hitting .301 with a .930 OPS. He had 18 doubles, 29 home runs, 94 RBI, 84 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and 64 walks. In 13 games with Cleveland he hit .129 with a .486 OPS. He had a double, five RBI, six runs scored, and nine walks.
