The Colorado Rockies have placed pitcher Chase Dollander on the 15-day injured list. This is due to a blister on his pitching hand. The move is retroactive to May 19. To fill his spot on the roster, the Rockies have recalled right-handed pitcher Juan Mejía from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Chase Dollander

Dollander, the Rockies top pitching prospect and the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, made an impressive debut in April. He earned his first MLB win with five solid innings against the Athletics. However, he has since struggled with consistency, posting a 5.65 ERA over five starts. The injury to his pitching hand has further delayed his development at the major league level.

Juan Mejia

Mejía was previously recalled on April 24. He was then optioned back to Triple-A on April 28. Now, he returns to the Rockies’ bullpen. The 26-year-old right-hander has shown promise in the minors, and his return provides the team with additional depth in the pitching staff during Dollander’s absence.

Wrap Up

The Rockies are set to face the Philadelphia Phillies today, with the game scheduled to begin at 12:10 PM PDT. Chase Dollander’s absence may impact the team’s pitching rotation, but the addition of Mejía offers a potential boost to the bullpen as Colorado looks to maintain its competitiveness in the National League West.
