Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker is giving the front office instant gratification after it acquired him from the Houston Astros over the winter. The three-time All-Star entered Sunday's matchup vs. the Cincinnati Reds, slashing .283/.391/.520 with 12 homers, 39 RBI, and 16 stolen bases through 58 games.

Tucker also entered Sunday ranked second on the team in batting average, first in on-base percentage, and first with 63 hits. The Cubs were third in MLB with a .785 OPS and had a 3.5-game lead atop the NL Central.

UPDATE: Tucker left Sunday's game with a jammed right finger, via Andy Martinez.

However, Tucker left in the fifth inning on Sunday, and the broadcast speculated why after the fact, via Mike Kurland.

"The broadcast was speculating that Cubs' Kyle Tucker left the game with an injury secondary to hitting his head/face while sliding," he said. "He also got hit by a pitch before this. Both occurred in the first inning of the game and he played through it until the 5th inning."

The Cubs were up 5-2 in the sixth inning as of this writing.

Chicago traded Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski, and Cam Smith to get Tucker in January. The 6-foot-4-inch, 212-pounder played for the Astros from 2018-2024.

The Cubs will next play the Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies on the road before hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, and Seattle Mariners. They will then hit the road again to play the St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros before hosting the Cleveland Guardians and the Cardinals.

They will then play the Minnesota Twins on the road.
