During the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds game, where the Cubs won 7 to 3, superstar offseason acquisition Kyle Tucker suffered a jammed right ring finger. He missed the final five innings of the contest, and there was significant concern over his health going forward.
According to a post on Twitter/X from Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, Tucker had X-rays done on his finger, and they came back negative. Levine reports that Tucker will be day-to-day following the major injury update.

While a scary injury, the negative x-ray results are a positive sign. Not seeing anything broken or other noteworthy damage is a positive sign that Tucker will be back before long. Even though Tucker may miss time, he might not land on the injured list if the damage and pain aren't too bad.
If Tucker did get placed on the injured list, the Cubs would've lost one of their best players for an extended period of time.
Before his injury, and during the four innings Tucker played against the Reds, he went 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored.
So far through the first 59 games of the Cubs' season, Tucker is off to an incredible start. He has 63 hits, 43 runs, 9 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs, and 39 RBI through 266 plate appearances. Tucker also has 16 stolen bases, 40 walks, and 32 strikeouts.
Tucker has a .283 batting average and a .911 OPS, to go with a very solid defensive profile with just one error on 112 chances. Overall, Tucker has not only been one of the best Cubs but one of the best players in baseball in 2025.
This bit of good news from Levine is a near disaster avoided. If Tucker broke part of his hand, he'd miss extensive time. While Tucker is still likely to miss some time, the difference is stark if the X-ray comes back positive.
