The Los Angeles Dodgers have an update on superstar Mookie Betts as he recently fractured the tip of his fourth toe on his left foot.

Per USA Today's Bob Nightengale, manager Dave Roberts believes that his All-Star won't require a stint on the injured list and will be back in the lineup next week.

Betts originally sustained the injury Wednesday evening after the team arrived home from a roadtrip against the New York Mets and Cleveland Guardians.

“I was just going to the bathroom in the dark and hit my toe on a wall,” Betts toldThe Los Angeles Times.

Injuries have been brutal for the Dodgers all season long, but they will be missing one of their superstars for the rest of the World Series rematch against the New York Yankees this weekend. L.A., however, seemed to fare without their shortstop on Friday's series opener back at Dodger Stadium.

After trailing, 5-2, entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Dodgers stormed all the way back to score four in the sixth and another two runs in the seventh and dug out an 8-5 victory.

Betts has been batting .254 this season with 31 RBIs and eight home runs.

In his last 20 games, Betts has seen a slight decline in production, batting .238 with an OPS of .681. The superstar only has a hard-hit percentage in the 36th percentile of MLB, with his barrel percentage at just the 15th percentile as those areas have steadily trended downwards in the last two seasons.

His outs above average rating of three puts him in the 89th percentile of qualified fielders and is an absence that will surely be felt in the diamond while he is away. Miguel Rojas got the nod at shortstop on Friday night as Hyeseong Kim will cover that position on Saturday.

Betts is sitting out the three-game World Series rematch in L.A., but all the defending champs can do is try and continue their winning ways until he returns.
