The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped a close game on Saturday to the Colorado Rockies, at Coors Field. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts felt his offense didn’t capitalize on Colorado’s mistakes. Following the game, Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing also made a comment about Colorado’s hitters.
“I think they had a good game plan as an opposing team, and maybe I pitched into their game plan. As far as calling pitches, I’m not 100% sure. I just, I think it’s odd some of those hitters that do what they do, they go up there and they were only on the first pitch that was thrown. So it’s a little fishy,” Rushing said, per reporter Fredo Cervantes.
Dalton Rushing said it was ‘a little fishy’ how the #Rockies hitters were swinging at the first pitch and connecting. Rushing found it very odd.

It appears that the Dodgers manager didn’t hold that same opinion. He was planning Sunday to put Rushing at a different position.
“Dave Roberts said the original plan was to have Dalton Rushing at first base today. He changed his mind to reward Ryan Ward with a debut,” The Athletic reported Sunday. “When Roberts went to tell Rushing (one of Ward’s best friends in the org), Rushing said Ward earned it and was going to suggest the same.”
Rushing hit a home run in the game Saturday, along with Kyle Tucker. It was a tough loss for Los Angeles, as the Dodgers had previously been pretty dominant in this series.
“The Rockies had been 5-22 against the Dodgers over the past three seasons, including 3-12 at Coors Field. Los Angeles had won 11 of its previous 13 games and entered Saturday 6-1 in road games this season,” the Associated Press reported.
Colorado and Los Angeles play again on Sunday. The Dodgers are now 15-5 on the season.
