The Detroit Tigers today will wrap up their series with the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers took the first game thanks to a clutch home run by Matt Vierling. Yesterday they dropped the middle game 7-4. Today they placed Matt Vierling on the injured list with an oblique injury. To take Vierling’s spot on the roster the Tigers recalled Trey Sweeney from Triple-A Toledo. Sweeney is in the starting lineup for today’s game as well.

Matt Vierling

Vierling is hitting .239 with a .617 OPS in 31 games this season. He has three doubles, a home run, 11 RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, and seven walks. In 18 minor league games, he hit .206 with a .658 OPS. He had two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base, and ten walks. 

Trey Sweeney

Sweeney this season in 84 games is hitting .208 with a .578 OPS. He had five doubles, a triple, five home runs, 27 RBI, 28 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 23 walks. In 12 games at Triple-A Toledo, he hit .326 with a .954 OPS. He had two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, nine runs scored, four stolen bases, and seven walks.
