The Detroit Tigers start a three-game series tonight against the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers are 2-4 to start August, averaging four runs per game while allowing five runs per game. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Tigers are recalling right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer. The Tigers have also designated right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson for assignment.

Heuer appeared in one game with the Rangers this season, going 1.1 innings, giving up a run on a hit. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out one. The Tigers purchased him on July 31st. In two games at Triple-A Toledo, he hasn’t allowed a run or a hit, or a walk. He has struck out two in 1.1 innings. Heuer also made 35 appearances at the Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate, Round Rock. He went 3-2 with a 3.43 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.
Jackson in three games with the Tigers posted a 7.71 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings. He signed with Detroit on July 26th after the Rangers released him on July 24th. In 39 games with Texas, he went 2-5 with a 4.11 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 35 innings.
