The Detroit Tigers start a series against the New York Mets today. The calendars have officially flipped to the final month of the 2025 season, and with that, rosters have also expanded. The rosters are now set at 28. Teams can’t have more than 14 pitchers. Today, the Tigers recalled utility player Justyn-Henry Malloy and right-handed pitcher Chase Lee from Triple-A Toledo. Sawyer Gipson-Long is up for acclimation and will be activated tomorrow.

Justyn-Henry Malloy

Malloy this season in 46 games with the Tigers hit .208 with a .620 OPS. He had four doubles, a home run, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, and 19 walks. In 66 games at Triple-A Toledo, he hit .317 with a .934 OPS. He has 18 doubles, eight home runs, 51 RBI, 42 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 50 walks. In the Tigers’ postseason run last season, he played in seven games hitting .625 with a 1.477 OPS. He had a double, a run scored, and two walks.

Chase Lee  

Lee in 32 games for the Tigers this season is 4-1. He posts a 4.10 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and had 36 strikeouts in 37.1 innings. In 17 games at Triple-A Toledo he went 0-1. He had a save, a 8.10 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 23.1 innings.

Sawyer Gipson-Long

Gipson-Long this season in six games with the Tigers, two of which came as starts went 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 25 innings. In 12 appearances with 11 coming as starts in the minor leagues, he went 0-1. He posted a 3.63 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 42 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.
