Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal has been great over the last two seasons. He has recorded 100+ strikeouts, a 2.50 ERA or lower, and fewer than 20 walks through 15 games in each of the last two seasons. He is the first pitcher in league history to accomplish this feat in back-to-back years. He surrendered 2 earned runs over 5.2 innings of work while punching out 6 this afternoon. He helped the Tigers prevail 9-2 in the first half of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Skubal has picked up right where he left off in 2024. He is third in the league in wins, fourth in ERA, third in strikeouts, and leads the league in WHIP. Will the ace continue making history as the regular season marches on?

Skubal debuted with the Detroit Tigers in 2020. He showed flashes in 2023 but really came into his own during the 2024 campaign. He won the AL Cy Young, won the “pitching triple crown,” and finished seventh in AL MVP voting. The star pitcher has not let his foot off the accelerator through 15 starts this year.
Skubal’s next scheduled start is on June 24 at home against the Athletics. Je will look to take advantage of a poor lineup. If the ace can continue pitching this well, a second consecutive Cy Young Award will be his in a few months.
