Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal had a tremendous start tonight on the road against the Texas Rangers. He surrendered one earned run over 6.2 innings of work and punched out 11. He walked away with a no decision.

Skubal has been tremendous this season. He is fourth in the league in wins, second in ERA, second in strikeouts, the league leader in WHIP, and fourth in opposing batting average. His strong first half of the regular season helped the Tigers ace start the All-Star Game for the American League earlier this week. Will he keep pitching at such a high level in the second half of the year?

Tarik Skubal Career Summary

Skubal debuted with the Detroit Tigers in 2020. He started showing flashes of the pitcher he would become during the 20223 season. He built on it with a 2024 season for the ages. He won the “pitching triple crown” and the AL Cy Young Award. The star lefty has followed up 2024 by pitching even better this season.

Final Thoughts

Skubal’s next scheduled start is at home on Friday against the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays. If the lefty can keep it up, a second consecutive AL Cy Young Award could be on the horizon. More importantly, he can help power the Detroit Tigers on a deep playoff run.
