PHOENIX – Abysmal pitching has been one of the biggest storylines for this Arizona Diamondbacks ball club so far in the 2025 season.

Brandon Pfaadt was the latest victim of an uncharacteristic outing that seems to be plaguing this D-Backs team. In last night’s start, Pfaadt was pulled after allowing eight earned runs on six hits without even recording an out. The Nationals put up 10 runs in the first inning on Arizona at Chase Field last night.

History was made.. but not in the way the Arizona Diamondbacks would have liked. In an unfortunate series of events in the first inning, Pfaadt’s outing tied a National League record for a first-inning collapse and was only one run behind the Red Sox record of 10 runs allowed back in 2003. Fans react to The Diamonbacks’ first inning:

Arizona needs to figure out what they need to do to get back on track, they have lost the last four series in a row and are trying to avoid a sweep on Sunday at Chase Field against the Nationals.
