Diamondbacks OF Corbin Carroll’s absence in lineup vs. Mets due to hip issue

Arizona Central’s Nick Piecoro reports Carroll is dealing with what he described as a minor hip issue after running the bases during Wednesday’s game. It started after he hit a triple, prompting the club to give him the day off to play it safe.

The 25-year-old indicated it is nothing serious and does not anticipate missing much time. However, the timing of the discomfort comes at a bad time with his recent surge over the last few games.

Carroll is leading the team in many categories, including batting average, home runs, RBIs and hits, with a 0.8 WAR. Wednesday’s game, which was his 500th career game, was one of his best outings so far in 2026, going 3-for-5 with three extra-base hits and two RBIs.

Not having that hot bat in the lineup will certainly push the rest of it to make up for that missing production, whether it is contact, power or speed.

On a club that has unfortunately been used to major injuries to key players over the last few seasons, sitting the All-Star instead of making him play through anything is a way to keep it from getting worse and therefore avoid missing another key player.

Sitting at 6-6 and heading to Philadelphia this weekend, keeping Carroll from overexerting himself will be key as the Diamondbacks continue to play against elite teams.
