Diamondbacks release 2025 Cactus League schedule
Scott Taetsch-USA TODAY Sports

As the Diamondbacks prepare for a late postseason push, their 2025 Cactus League schedule has been released, kicking off Spring Training with a game against the Colorado Rockies on February 21st, 2025.

Next spring, Arizona will also host the return of Spring Breakout from March 13-16, 2025, featuring top prospects from several MLB teams competing in a series of exhibition games. Glendale will highlight a matchup between the Cubs’ and Dodgers’ farm systems, both ranked in the top 10 by MLB Pipeline. In Goodyear, the Seattle Mariners’ prospects will take on the Cleveland Guardians, another top-10 farm system. Additionally, the Diamondbacks will host the Guardians at Chase Field on March 23 for an exhibition game.

In the last three years, the Diamondbacks have consistently hovered around the middle of the pack during Spring Training, finishing with records either at or slightly above .500. Their last losing record in Spring Training was in 2021.

However, past Spring Trainings haven’t always gone smoothly for the D-backs. In 2024, they dealt with several key injuries during the Cactus League. Eduardo Rodriguez suffered a lat injury that sidelined him for 60 days, and closer Paul Sewald missed the first couple of months of the season with an oblique injury.

Rodriguez only recently returned to the mound, making his Diamondbacks debut on August 7th. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs in a 5-3 win over the Guardians. He followed up with a similar performance against the Rockies, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs in a 4-3 Diamondbacks victory.

Since the All-Star break, the Diamondbacks have been one of the hottest teams in baseball, matched only by the San Diego Padres, with both teams going 9-1 in their last 10 games. The Dodgers’ first-place lead has shrunk to just 2.5 games. To add to the drama, the Dodgers won’t face a team with a losing record until September 3rd, when they take on the Angels in a two-game series.
