The Arizona Diamondbacks are turning to another young arm as they search for stability in a starting rotation that has been ravaged by injuries.
Left-hander Mitch Bratt, Arizona's No. 14 prospect, is scheduled to make his MLB debut Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals , according to manager Torey Lovullo.
Mitch Bratt will start for the Diamondbacks tomorrow, Torey Lovullo said.

Bratt, 22, was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. The young southpaw was acquired by Arizona in the trade that sent Merrill Kelly to Texas at last season's trade deadline before Kelly returned to the Diamondbacks as a free agent this offseason.
Across 11 starts with Triple-A Reno this season, Bratt has posted a 1-1 record with a 2.84 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. He has recorded 42 strikeouts and 12 walks while holding opposing hitters to a .194 batting average.
Bratt also represented Team Canada in the 2023 World Baseball Classic at just 19 years old. He allowed six runs on three hits and three walks while recording one out against Team USA in his lone appearance.
His promotion comes as the Diamondbacks continue to take hit after hit to their rotation. Both Ryne Nelson (right elbow strain) and Michael Soroka (left glute strain) have landed on the injured list within the past week.
Bratt will be the second Arizona pitcher to make his MLB debut this week, joining right-hander Jose Cabrera. The 24-year-old impressed in his first start on June 21 against the Minnesota Twins, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out three without issuing a walk.
Bratt will hope for similar success in his debut, though he recently returned from the seven-day Triple-A injured list after dealing with shoulder inflammation.
In his lone start since returning, Bratt allowed two runs on two hits and one walk across four innings with four strikeouts. He also surrendered a home run.
Bratt's long-term role remains uncertain, but Arizona simply needs healthy starters at the moment. Nelson and Soroka are sidelined, and Corbin Burnes recently suffered a setback in his Tommy John recovery due to a right teres major strain. Meanwhile, Brandon Pfaadt was optioned to Triple-A Reno on June 4 after posting a 5.92 ERA across 13 appearances (three starts) to begin the 2026 season.
The Diamondbacks are likely going to rely on at least one or two of these three starters to get them through the rest of the season:

For now, Arizona's rotation consists of Kelly, Cabrera, Zac Gallen, Eduardo Rodriguez, and now Bratt. While Kelly and Gallen have struggled, Rodriguez has been a bright spot, posting a 2.27 ERA through 16 starts.
Bratt will look to make a strong first impression and provide a much-needed boost to Arizona's injury-plagued rotation when he takes the mound Wednesday at 7:45 ET.
