The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded outfielder Steward Berroa to the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations, in a deal finalized during this week's series between the two teams.
Berroa, who is just 26 years old, had been designated for assignment by the Dodgers on July 3. He is now being moved to the Brewers, who, in turn, are optioning him to Triple-A Nashville and are expected to place him on the injured list with right shoulder bursitis.
The Dodgers had just traded for Berroa from the Toronto Blue Jays less than two months ago on May 12, also for cash considerations.

Over 27 games with the Dodgers' Triple-A Oklahoma City, he posted an impressive .330/.424/.433 slash line, with seven doubles, one homer, 11 RBIs, and 11 steals in 14 attempts. His star skill remains elite speed with more than 40 minor‑league stolen bases in each of his six seasons, including a 58‑steal year in 2021. Berroa has 20 stolen bases so far this year.
In 2024, he made 28 big‑league appearances with the Blue Jays, posting a .189 batting average with one RBI and six steals. In Triple-A Buffalo earlier in 2025, he had a .195 AVG and .501 OPS, with nine steals in 24 games.
Berroa may not develop into a regular everyday player, but his wheels and baserunning ability offer Milwaukee a cheap and immediate tool at their disposal, particularly for late-game situations or September depth.
Los Angeles offloaded Berroa's 40‑man spot, recouping cash and trimming to make room for roster needs. Toronto added a low-risk speedster with big-league exposure, which will be perfect for adding depth to their bench late in the season.
