It's somewhat surprising that the Los Angeles Dodgers have performed as well as they have to start the season, considering all the injuries they've faced on the mound.
As noted before, no team will feel bad for the Dodgers because of their payroll, but injuries happen, and it'll be tough to blame them if they struggle because of it.
Instead, they sit at 41-28 and are in first place in the loaded National League West, holding a one-game lead over the San Francisco Giants.
According to some news from Dave Roberts, the Dodgers may be adding reinforcements in the near future. Robert spoke about Blake Snell and right-hander Tyler Glasnow, who have both been out for much of the campaign.
“Tyler threw today,” Roberts said Tuesday. “Really encouraged with his bullpen in Los Angeles. Blake threw today here. Really encouraging. So, yeah, you can start to see us get to the other side. It’s stuff to look forward to."
Glasnow has dealt with many injuries throughout his career, and Snell has caught the injury bug recently, but as long as both arms are ready to go in the postseason, the Dodgers should be in a good spot.
While that's concerning, as they want to make sure they have innings under their belt before October, if they can throw the baseball the way everybody knows they can in October, the Dodgers will be the best team in baseball by a wide margin.
Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior seem to understand that, as both were very happy with how Glasnow and Snell looked.
“Seeing Blake today live in front of us was great. His arm looks, for the first time probably all year, free and easy,” Prior said. “(Glasnow) really has been feeling good and the ball has been coming out really good."
