Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is currently on the injured list with an oblique injury. Betts is working hard to return as soon as possible. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared a Betts update ahead of Friday night’s game against the Texas Rangers, via Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Dave Roberts said Mookie Betts is ‘symptom-free’ with his strained right oblique. He won’t be activated when he’s eligible, but a good sign,” Ardaya wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Betts already being “symptom free” is obviously an important update. Oblique injuries often require a month or longer absence. The Dodgers are hopeful that Betts can return sooner, but he does not have a specific return date yet.

The 33-year-old hit .179/.281/.429 across eight games played before the injury. While his numbers were not ideal, Betts is still one of the best players in the sport when healthy. The Dodgers will need him on the field as they look to earn their third consecutive Fall Classic victory this year.

Overall, the Dodgers are set to enter Friday night’s game with a 9-3 record. Los Angeles holds a 2.5 game lead over the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers were expected to play at a high level before the 2026 campaign, and that is exactly what they have done so far this season.

Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Mookie Betts’ injury status as they are made available. As for Friday’s game, first pitch is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST in Los Angeles.
