Heading into Monday’s action, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the best record in baseball at 54-30. This has them 10 games up on the San Diego Padres in the National League West.
The team generally has no weakness. Their .784 OPS is the best in MLB by a mile and their 3.43 ERA ranks fourth. They run the bases well and are a good defensive team by the advanced metrics.
In a season where some of the Dodgers’ star players are underperforming, such as Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker, first basemanFreddie Freeman is not on that list. Now 36 years old, the veteran hitter is just as good as he was in his prime.
In 81 games this season, the first baseman has put together a .289/.379/.492 slashline for an .871 OPS. He has collected 13 home runs and 45 RBIs.
It is just another season for the 17th-year player Freeman, as his career OPS of .896 is just a shade above his 2026 value. He is once again a top first baseman in MLB, up there with sluggers like Matt Olson and Nick Kurtz.
Because of that, Freeman moved on to Phase 2 of All-Star Game voting this past week. The Dodgers’ team X account posted Monday to campaign for his candidacy.
Phase 2 of voting is now live! Vote for your Boys in Blue and make them starters at the All-Star Game. Voting ends on 7/2.

Freeman earned by far the most votes for National League first basemen, beating out Olson by roughly 600,000. Freeman’s value of 2,666,008 was third most in the N.L., short of teammates Max Muncy and Shohei Ohtani.
Heading into Phase 2 of voting, which concludes July 2, the 36-year-old is in the driver’s seat to secure the starting nod. It would be his sixth time doing so, and ninth time making the All-Star roster in general.
Seeking their third straight World Series appearance and victory, Freeman will play a huge role in the middle of the lineup. His bat has proven especially valuable in their 2024 and 2025 championship runs.
