Mookie Betts has continued to enjoy his time in Los Angeles as a member of the Dodgers, now in his seventh season with the organization after spending the first six years of his MLB career with the Boston Red Sox.
No matter where Betts plays, he impacts the game in ways few players ever have. The 33-year-old veteran has collected eight All-Star selections, six Gold Gloves, seven Silver Sluggers, a batting title and an MVP award.
He also remains the active MLB leader in championships with four, routinely finishing seasons on top. Unfortunately for Betts, he is currently sidelined with a right oblique strain and is on the 10-day injured list. His season is on hold, though he hopes to return in May.
As Betts continues to rehab and progress in his recovery, he is also entering a new era of his life away from the field. Betts and his wife, Brianna Betts, shared a personal update on Friday in a collaborated Instagram post.
The couple announced that their family had expanded with the arrival of a baby girl. “Khari Betts The newest addition to the Betts Bunch!” the caption read.
Khari is the couple’s third child, joining daughter Kynlee, born in 2018, and son Kaj Lyn, born in 2023. With life getting a bit more chaotic at home, Betts will hope to bring some dad strength with him once he returns to the Dodgers lineup.
Before the injury, Betts struggled at the plate to open the 2026 season, posting a .179 batting average, .281 on-base percentage, .710 OPS, two home runs and seven RBIs.
While it is a small sample size, this is an important year for Betts after a slight dip in production in 2025 as well. He still has seven years remaining on his 12-year, $365 million contract and the Dodgers need him performing at a high level as they chase a potential third straight World Series title. For now, Betts focuses on healing and enjoying life as a father of three.
