Despite being one of the most famous athletes in the world, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani leads an extremely private life.
His marriage to former Japanese professional basketball player Mamiko Tanaka came out of left field before last year's spring training, with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts not even knowing until his own wife told him, according to The Athletic.
On Saturday, Ohtani gave fans a glimpse into his life as he shared a message on Instagram announcing that he and his wife officially welcomed their first child into the world. Although Ohtani announced in December that they were expecting a child, the due date remained a mystery throughout the process.
As revealed in the post, Ohtani and Tanaka had a daughter, whose name was not shared.

Prior to Saturday, the Dodgers placed Ohtani on the paternity list, but they were unaware of the due date, as confirmed by Roberts.
"He and Mamiko are expecting at some point," Roberts told Fox11. "That's all I know."
The announcement came before the Dodgers' three-game road trip against the Texas Rangers, which is followed by a two-game road trip against the Chicago Cubs.
A four-time MLB All-Star and three-time MVP, Ohtani has gotten off to a fairly strong start to the year. He is hitting .288 with six home runs and eight runs batted in, while sporting an OPS of .930. He has scored 21 runs. In terms of pitching, Ohtani is expected to return to the bump around the All-Star break, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
While Ohtani is likely eager to return to dominating baseball on both sides of the diamond, he has a new challenge to perfect in fatherhood.
