The Los Angeles Dodgers are still searching for more consistent offensive production, and Teoscar Hernandez remains one of the players they need to get going. The 33-year-old veteran right-handed slugger has gotten off to a slow start in 2026.
Through 28 games, Hernandez owns a .238 batting average, .310 on-base percentage, .706 OPS, four home runs and 17 RBIs. Those numbers are roughly league-average, but his defensive struggles in the outfield have made him a net-negative so far.
Still, Hernandez remains one of the most talented hitters on the roster and is capable of turning it around. He won his third Silver Slugger and earned his second All-Star selection in 2024, his first season in Los Angeles.
As Hernandez works to break through at the plate and live up to his three-year, $66 million contract, he has continued to build his personal brand off the field as well.
Ahead of Friday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Hernandez took to Instagram to announce a new partnership. He revealed he is teaming up with Athletic Brewing, a U.S.-based company specializing in non-alcoholic beer.
“Mr. Seeds has left the chat. Say hello to Mr. Sips Thrilled to team up with @athleticbrewing and their tasty brews this season ⚾️,” the caption of the collaborative post read.
The nickname “Mr. Sips” is a playful twist on “Mr. Seeds,” the nickname Hernandez earned for splashing teammates with sunflower seeds after home runs as they returned to the dugout.
While the off-field partnership adds to Hernandez’s growing profile, the Dodgers need his on-field production even more.
Los Angeles is chasing a third straight World Series title in 2026, and getting Hernandez back to his All-Star form would go a long way toward making that happen.
