Teoscar Hernandez has fit right in with the Los Angeles Dodgers since joining ahead of the 2024 MLB season. He has opened his tenure with the organization by winning back-to-back World Series titles with hopes of three-peating in 2026, playing a crucial role in each championship run.

Hernandez has gotten off to a strong start this year. Across 12 games, the 33-year-old has posted a .289 batting average, .313 on-base percentage, .757 OPS, two home runs and eight RBIs. It is an encouraging sign for the veteran right-handed slugger, especially after a down 2025 season that led to him being mentioned in trade rumors this past offseason, although he ultimately remained with the team.

As Hernandez continues trying to make an impact in the batter’s box, he is also choosing to honor his son while doing so. Ahead of Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers, Hernandez made a radio appearance that he shared on Instagram.

In the exchange, he announced that for the rest of this season he will wear an elbow guard dedicated to his son, who was recently diagnosed with autism.

“I did it for my kid. He’s on the spectrum with autism. This year I tried to do something different for him and for the rest of the people around the world that are dealing with that. A lot of things in our life gets hard sometimes. It was something that I wanted to do for my boy and for the rest of the world," Hernandez said.

Hernandez and his wife have three sons who frequently support him at the ballpark, and the gesture reflects how important family is to him.

Back on the field, Hernandez remains one of the most accomplished hitters of his generation and is known for his charismatic personality. Across 11 seasons, he has earned two All-Star selections and three Silver Slugger Awards across stints with three different organizations.

If he continues producing at this level, Hernandez could once again be a major factor in the Dodgers pursuit of another championship.
