The Los Angeles Dodgers have been interested in adding a third baseman over the last few months. There have been rumors that the team could be interested in trading for Nolan Arenado of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but nothing has come on that front yet.
However, Arenado, who's playing on a $275 million deal, would be a very expensive addition. The Dodgers have never shown that they aren't willing to take on big deals, but it's also something they must consider.
With him being as old as he is, it might be better to wait until the offseason when Alex Bregman could potentially hit free agency again with an opt-out in his contract.
That’s what could happen.
According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, he expects him to opt out and the Dodgers to show interest.
“Bregman, who is making $40 million this year and signed for two more years at that rate, will likely opt out of his deal. His free-agent market should be even more robust than last offseason with the Red Sox joined by the Yankees, Tigers, Astros, Phillies and even the Dodgers; he would be an upgrade for all of them at the hot corner,” he wrote.
If the Dodgers could replace Max Muncy with Bregman, the team would be much better.
It'll be interesting to see if Bregman would be willing to play for the Dodgers, given everything that happened between them and the Houston Astros many years ago.
This is a business at the end of the day, and if Bregman wants to win, the Dodgers should be interested him. However, it's tough to ignore the cheating scandal that happened.
