The Los Angeles Dodgers were defeated 3-2 by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. The Dodgers’ lineup has struggled in recent action. Kyle Tucker’s walk-off base hit on Monday gave LA a 5-4 win, but the ball club ended up dropping the three-game series against the Marlins 2-1. Starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow had an inconsistent outing in Wednesday’s game, as he allowed only two runs and struck out nine hitters but walked six batters across 5.2 innings of work.
“It was definitely a challenge today,” Glasnow said after the contest, via SportsNet LA. “I think early on felt good, like third and fourth inning felt great and then fifth and sixth… It was super weird. I just lost timing, flying open. It was just one of those days where it was hard to throw strikes.”
Glasnow’s stuff is good enough that he can walk six hitters and still turn in a respectable overall performance. Most pitchers around MLB would allow far more runs than two after walking six hitters. Glasnow still gave the Dodgers an opportunity to win, but the lineup never found a rhythm.
Marlins star Sandy Alcantara deserves credit. He limited LA to only two runs scored in six innings on the mound. Alcantara struck out four hitters as well. Miami’s bullpen then held the Dodgers scoreless, while LA’s bullpen allowed one more run in the 3-2 defeat.
The Dodgers are now 20-11 overall in 2026. They hold a half-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West standings. Los Angeles will look to get back on track on the road in an upcoming away series against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
