Dodgers welcome back RF Jason Heyward with 1-year deal

Right fielder Jason Heyward signed a one-year contract worth $9 million with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old free agent enjoyed a bounce-back season in 2023, batting .269 with 15 homers and 40 RBIs in 124 games in his first campaign with Los Angeles.

Heyward is a career .258 hitter with 174 homers and 681 RBIs in 1,703 games with the Atlanta Braves (2010-14), St. Louis Cardinals (2015), Chicago Cubs (2016-22) and Dodgers.

Heyward is a five-time Gold Glove winner and made the National League All-Star team in 2010. He won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016.

He played last season on a one-year, $720,000 contract after batting .204 with one homer in 48 games in his final season with the Cubs.
