If the Toronto Blue Jays want to take down the 73-55 New York Yankees in Game 2, they’re going to need a strong outing out of Dylan Cease, who’s the probable Game 2 starter. Luckily, that seems very plausible.

Cease has pitched well so far in 2026, and he looks to continue that production against New York. In the last five starts for Cease, he’s never allowed more than three earned runs, and he’s allowed two or fewer in four games.

Below, we’ll be taking a look at who will be across the mound from Cease, his 2026 stats, and his splits this season. The start time for this game is listed at 1:35 PM ET.

Toronto Blue Jays Probable Starter: Dylan Cease

During the 2026 season, Cease has made 23 starts and pitched in 137.2 innings. Cease actually made the first All-Star Game of his career this year, and he has a 2.42 ERA and 5.1 WAR right now.

Cease also has a 1.061 WHIP, a 7-5 record, 201 strikeouts, and 59 walks. On Baseball Savant, Cease has an elite page, ranking in the 100th percentile for his pitching run value, which is a 33.

New York Yankees Probable Starter: Ryan Weathers

Ryan Weathers has had a good season; it’s just going to be near impossible to match Cease. Weathers has 24 starts and 134 innings on the year, posting a 3.56 ERA and 2.2 WAR.

Weathers also has a 1.194 WHIP, 140 strikeouts to 38 walks, but a 5-7 record. Per Baseball Savant, Weathers has a pitching run value right in the middle, which is two, ranking in the 50th percentile.

Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees: Game 2 Location (August 22nd)

Cease will be on the road for this one, with Game 2 being played at Yankee Stadium. In away games this year, Cease has a 1.71 ERA and a 6-1 record (63.1 innings), so this isn’t a concern in the slightest.

Ryan Weathers doesn’t match up to Dylan Cease great in this department either, with a 3.93 ERA and a 3-5 record at home (75.2 innings).
