With Kansas City in Texas for a three-game set against the Rangers, two former Florida greats got back on the field together, just on opposite sides. Jac Caglianone is early in his MLB career with the Royals, while second-year player Wyatt Langford continues to produce for the Rangers. The two did not directly go head-to-head but always fun to play against a former teammate.
Thursday afternoon was the series finale, and with the games over, Caglianone and Langford met up with one another inside Globe Life Field. Caglianone posted a photo on his Instagram story of a jersey swap with Langford. “Always great to see you, brother! Keep it rolling!” the Royals rookie added.

For Langford, watching Caglianone hit towering home runs is nothing new. But for the rest of baseball, they had never seen him do so at the professional level before Thursday. That changed quite quickly as Caglianone hit two home runs against the Rangers to open up his account. His first was on a pitch way, way up in the strike zone before sending it out to right center field.
Certain moments in players’ careers that they will never forget. Caglianone hitting his first home run and then No. 2 a couple of innings later will be a memory for the rest of his life.
Langford had himself a nice series, just not as productive as Caglianone was on Thursday. He collected four total hits, three of which came on Wednesday night. Two of them were doubles and drove in a run. A sixth-inning single from Langford turned into the Rangers’ only Thursday run due to a two-out double from Marcus Semien.
Florida fans have plenty of positive memories of Caglianone and Langford being in the same lineup back in 2023. The Gators absolutely mashed throughout the entire season and eventually made their way to Omaha for the College World Series.
Langford led the way with a batting average of .373 and an OPS of 1.282. He drove out 21 home runs and 57 RBIs, while adding 28 doubles and three triples. Texas then took him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and included him on the 2024 Opening Day roster.
Cagilanone’s offensive numbers were not too far behind. An OPS of 1.127 was just as eye-popping with 33 home runs and 90 RBIs. However, Cagilanone was still pitching at the time and routinely took the mound for the Gators. He earned a spot as a Golden Spikes Award finalist as well.
