Former Montreal Expos Player, Washington Nationals Player Loses Job in Bay Area Radio

Former Montreal Expos player and former Washington Nationals broadcaster F.P. Santangelo was let go on Wednesday night from his radio talk show host job at KNBR in San Francisco.

Santangelo confirmed the news on social media:

I want to thank everyone @KNBR for the amazing opportunity to be a part of their station for a second time around! I was informed today that due to budget cuts there will no longer be a 6-10pm show. That said I’m super grateful for the time spent bonding with all the amazing Bay Area Sports Fans. I’ll miss talking with you on a nightly basis the most. Hopefully now though, it will be in person after Giants game. Thank you for all your love and support. You guys are the best!

According to SFGate.com, the live nighttime call-in show hosted by Santangelo had been heard on the station for more than 50 years. The station aired nationally syndicated programming from CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday night during the timeslot previously helmed by the MLB veteran.

Santangelo spent seven years playing in the big leagues for the Expos, Dodgers, Giants and A's. He was a lifetime .245 hitter who popped 21 career homers. His most productive year was in 1996 when he hit seven homers, drove in 56 and hit .277.

He had served on the Nationals broadcast team from 2011-2021, exiting before the 2022 season to go back to KNBR, where he had worked previously.
