Some Boston Red Sox fans are starting to get fed up with Alex Cora, but other coaches around Major League Baseball could be on the hot seat in a much different way than Cora, who is still a good manager.
According to Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report, former Red Sox outfielder Rocco Baldelli of the Minnesota Twins is one of them.
“That faith simply is not being rewarded thus far in 2025, and this is even though the Twins began the year with strong odds (i.e., 55.0 percent) of rebounding to make the playoffs.
“Baldelli understands that he's on the hot seat, and he doesn't have much in the way of protection. Beyond the diminishing returns, it's possible (the terms aren't public) that his contract only runs through the end of this year. As the Twins are already 7.0 games back in what is once again a competitive division, any change they do make would certainly be better made sooner rather than later,” he wrote.
It's always tough to get a feel for coaches of Baldelli’s status.
Not only do the Twins have a below-average roster in some sense, but it isn't like their ownership has been willing to go out and hand out huge deals. They signed Carlos Correa to a massive extension, but much of that has seen him spending his time on the injured list.
In his defense, it isn't exactly like the Twins, which are a marquee organization, and free agents are flocking to play with them.
However, his time could end in Minnesota at 19-20 and seven games behind in the below-average American League Central, despite how well the division has played to start the year.
