Christian Moore didn't have the greatest start to his MLB career in for the Angels during their series in Baltimore, which was a sweep by the Orioles.
However, the former Tennessee Vol and Brookyln native had a big day in the Angels' first game in the Big Apple on Monday. He notched some big career firsts to help Los Angeles get back into the win column 1-0 in 10 innings over the New York Yankees.
Moore picked up his first Major League hit in the eighth inning with the game tied. With two outs, Moore slugged a ball to right and past the diving Aaron Judge. The ball rolled to the wall, and Moore slid in for a triple.

It would take two more innings for Moore to cross the plate for the first time in his career, but what a time to do it. Nolan Schanuel lobbed a double over third base to plate Moore from second base in the tenth inning.

But that wouldn't be Moore's last contribution to the win. The Yankees had runners at first and third with one out in the bottom of the tenth. Jasson Dominguez rolled a shallow ground ball to second, and Moore had a choice to make. With his momentum taking him away from second and thus making a double play very difficult, he instead fired to the plate and got Paul Goldschmidt for the second out to preserve the lead. The Angels got the final out two hitters later to secure the win.

Baseball is a brutally difficult sport, particularly for a young player in the big leagues, but Monday was a day that took a lot of pressure off, as he got that important first hit and contributed to his first big league win.
We'll see if he can continue to make memorable plays in his own backyard on Tuesday and Wednesday as the series against the Yankees continues.
