The San Francisco Giants had a reason to celebrate Thursday as Willy Adames reached a major milestone in his career.
Adames launched a two-run home run against the Cleveland Guardians, giving him the 200th homer of his Major League career. The Giants quickly recognized the accomplishment with a message on their official X account.
The milestone came just one day after Adames returned to the active roster following a four-game absence caused by back spasms.

Adames had left the Giants’ Aug. 12 game against the Houston Astros after his back locked up. Although the injury appeared serious enough to potentially require an injured-list stint, he remained on the active roster and returned Wednesday.
His return immediately paid off with one of the biggest moments of his season. The two-run blast over the right-center field wall against Cleveland marked the latest power milestone for the veteran shortstop.
Adames entered the season as one of the most important pieces of the Giants’ long-term plans after signing a $182 million contract. His first season in San Francisco has included some difficult stretches, but his power has remained an important part of his offensive profile.
The milestone also provides a bright spot for a Giants team sitting fourth in the National League West. San Francisco entered Thursday with a 52-74 record, 24 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Adames has dealt with more than physical issues this season. Earlier in the year, manager Tony Vitello publicly challenged him over his readiness, prompting Adames to take accountability and respond by arriving at the ballpark early the following day.
Now, the focus is on a career achievement that few players reach. Reaching 200 home runs gives Adames another significant mark to add to his résumé while he continues adjusting to life in San Francisco.
