The Los Angeles Dodgers lost Wednesday's game and thus the series to the St. Louis Cardinals with a score line of 3-5. With that loss, the team's record is 66-49. They still hold a lead in the NL West table.
Despite the Dodgers' loss, Shohei Ohtani shone throughout and Greg Amsinger of MLB Network believes that, despite the game loss, Ohtani's team actually won.
"We just watched a team win a game that they lost. The Los Angeles Dodgers won this game, but the Cardinals won at 5 to 3 by the score." Amsinger said.
"The key was to see Shohei Otani find that A stuff again. We knew we were gonna see more length in the start than we saw all year," he continued. "You'd gone three innings a couple of times. We were expecting four innings. We didn't just see four innings. We saw a game one starter in terms of his stuff."
On Wednesday, August 6, Shohei Ohtani struck out eight over four innings and hit a two-run homer for his 1,000th MLB hit. This season, he’s fanned 25 batters in 19 innings (2.37 ERA) and has 39 homers, .606 slugging and 106 runs.
Amsinger sang high praise for Ohtani, calling him "the most talented human that's ever played the game". But he was not alone. Two-time AL All-Star Harold Reynolds also echoed his statements.
"We're seeing something we'll never ever see again. I'm sorry. Never be other guys that come along, but they're not gonna do this. This is the greatest player dominating at a time." Reynolds said.

"We were watching Michael Jordan in the Jordan era," he added. "There's so many great players in baseball. There were so many great basketball players when Michael Jordan played. But there was one guy you talked about win lose or draw."
