The LSU Tigers have one of the best head coaches in the sport of college baseball. Jay Johnson is an elite recruiter. He has put together one of the greatest staffs imaginable. Now, year after year, he's shown that his decision-making backs up the talent around his team as well.
The Tigers walked off the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday night in one of the most riveting baseball games imaginable. The Tigers head coach was emotional and thankful after the victory.
After his team grabbed a berth in the MCWS finals against Coastal Carolina, the Tigers skipper shared some heartfelt thoughts about this year's team.
Johnson is returning to an opportunity where he could help LSU win their second national championship in three years on the diamond.
"I said two years ago for Tommy's walk-off homer against Wake Forest that I felt something in my body that I'd never felt before. Greatest moment in my life. But now it has a tie for first. I would coach this team forever." -- LSU Tigers HC Jay Johnson

On Thursday morning, Johnson relayed a comical story that shows his bond with his players, current and former, too. According to Peter Burns, he spent time with Tre Morgan at the team's hotel and ordered pizza. Johnson didn't fall asleep till nearly 3 in the morning.

Hung out with former LSU player Tre Morgan at the hotel, ordered a pizza (hadn't eaten since 8:30am) and watched Sportscenter on repeat until he fell asleep. #SECThisMorning @SIRIUSXM
One thing is abundantly clear. The Bayou Bengals have the correct leader and man in charge of their baseball program.
In just four years, Johnson has become a key part of the culture around LSU baseball and helped continue building a giant in the sport. Let's see if Johnson and his team can finish the job this weekend and claim another national title for the Tigers.
