The San Francisco Giants' offense has been the worst in Major League Baseball so far in 2026.
Through May 13, San Francisco ranks last across the majors in runs scored with 145. Additionally, the Giants rank 29th in home runs with 30 and are tied with the New York Mets for the worst on-base percentage in baseball at .290.
And on Wednesday, San Francisco's offensive struggles continued.
Despite opening their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with two consecutive wins, the Giants' bats went cold during a 4-0 shutout loss led by Shohei Ohtani's seven scoreless innings. San Francisco managed just six hits and two walks while striking out ten times.
These offensive woes have become a far too common occurrence for a team filled with stars, including Rafael Devers (.247 AVG), Matt Chapman (.228 AVG), and Willy Adames (.222 AVG). All three have gotten off to sluggish starts, contributing to the Giants' disappointing 18-25 record.
As a result, questions are beginning to circulate regarding San Francisco's plans ahead of the trade deadline. The Giants already traded catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend, raising speculation about whether the organization could continue moving offensive pieces.
However, according to MLB insider Robert Murray of FanSided, the Giants are reportedly not looking to trade Devers, Chapman, or Adames. Murray added that the organization remains optimistic that its core players will turn both their individual performances and the season around.

- Giants not considering moving their stars.
- Jordan Walker … extension candidate?
- Foster Griffin looks like one of best offseason moves.
- Mauricio Dubon, Dom Smith impacts have been big for Atlanta.
- Mets believe they can turn their season around.…
Devers has already started to do that in May, slashing .366/.426/.707 with three home runs and seven RBIs in 12 games this month. Adames has also picked things up, hitting .286 with five RBIs in May. However, he has yet to draw a walk in twelve games this month and has struck out 13 times.

As for Chapman, he has regressed significantly in May after hitting .271 through April. San Francisco's third baseman is batting just .100 this month with a .163 on-base percentage. He has gone hitless in eight of his last eleven games.
So despite the Giants' internal optimism that things will turn around, time is ticking.
San Francisco already sits 7.5 games behind the NL West-leading San Diego Padres and 6.5 games out of a National League Wild Card spot.
The Giants will look to take the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers later today before beginning another road series against the Athletics on Friday.
