International Fame: Shohei Ohtani’s Dog Now Has Visa

“Thrilled to meet trailblazing two-time MVP Ohtani-san again – my lucky day,” Emanuel posted on X. “Maybe next time I’ll be fortunate enough to meet his MVPup, Decoy. – this ‘visa’ should help.”

Ohtani was also gifted a Dodgers jersey by Emanuel; unlike the visa, that one is real.

Decoy’s Debut

Ohtani’s dog’s first public appearance came a few months ago during the MVP Awards. When Ohtani accepted his 2023 AL MVP award on national television, his dog appeared on-screen. This naturally took the baseball world by storm, but Ohtani opted to keep the dog’s name a secret until after he signed his contract. That was with the Dodgers, and finally, Decoy was revealed to the world.

Similar to Ohtani himself, Decoy possesses both Japanese and American citizenship, according to the fake visa. His birthdate and age are not listed, as his age in dog years is unknown. Additionally, the post confirms Decoy is a male, and there’s no expiration date.

One Glaring Mistake

However, there is one mistake on the fake visa, as “Dodgers Stadium” is written with an S. The name of the stadium is ‘Dodger’ Stadium, with the ‘Dodger’ being singular, not plural. 

Regardless, this can be looked over as the entire thing is all meant to be in fun, and not taken seriously. In what’s been a busy but still slow offseason, a cute dog post like this may just be the juice we all need to keep going.
