Jarren Duran generating optimism with hot streak

The Boston Red Sox have gained solid offensive contributions in August from left-fielder Jarren Duran, who across his last 30 games has slashed .273/.316/.464.

He's also logged five home runs, four doubles, one triple, three stolen bases and a 110 wRC+. His offensive surge has also been complemented by his 17 RBI in the ninth inning or later that lead all of MLB.

His late-inning success came in handy against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, where he delivered a clutch extra-inning go-ahead grand slam that sealed a 7-3 victory. Prior to the grand slam Duran went 0-for-4 at the dish, illustrating how he delivers in late-game rallies.

Duran is also two home runs and two stolen bases from recording a 20/20 season despite only owning a .209 batting average.

Jarren Duran has the tools to be a postseason weapon for Red Sox

Despite the offensive slumps he's gone through this season, he's shown he can alter games with just one swing of the bat, which could help provide an impact in the postseason for the Red Sox.

With about four weeks left of the regular season, they hold the second AL wild-card spot and will be looking toward who will be on their 26-man roster for the postseason.

Duran has illustrated how he could serve as a high-leverage weapon in postseason action. When he is in the zone, he provides elite speed and an offensive spark and has shown signs of turning a corner with his dominant performance at the plate.

In his last nine games, Duran has heated up with .313 batting average, four extra-base hits, and an impressive .927 OPS and a 39.1 % hard-hard rate.
