Jorge Soler 2023 Landing Spots

Cuban outfielder Jorge Soler is receiving interest from multiple teams. Last season, Soler posted one of the best seasons of his career by blasting 36 home runs while collecting 75 RBI, all with a .25o batting average. He started his career with the Chicago Cubs, helping them win the 2016 World Series. Jorge was traded from the Kansas City Royals to the Atlanta Braves a few years later. Soler became an essential offensive player for the Braves in 2021, as they went on to defeat the mighty Houston Astros in six games. Jorge Soler earned the 2021 World Series MVP Award by having six hits, three being home runs and six batted in, with a .300 batting average. Soler’s power-hitting abilities make him a top-tier free agent.

Miami Marlins

Soler opted out of the third year of his contract with the Miami Marlins. Miami then decided not to extend his qualifying offer. Regardless of how much money Jorge is looking for this offseason, the Marlins should do everything they can to retain this slugger. This Miami Marlins team came out of the blue, surprising everyone with an 84-78 record. As well as Soler, Yuli Gurriel will leave the Marlins in free agency.

Jorge Soler’s first year with Miami didn’t go as expected, as he only played 72 games. Last season, he was huge for the Marlins, cracking 126 hits, the second most of his career. They have a solid young core with Bryan De La Cruz, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Jesús Sanchez. Not to forget a lethal and talented bat in second baseman Luis Arraez. Losing Soler will leave a hole at the designated hitter spot in this Marlins lineup.

San Diego Padres

This Padres team has to look internally this offseason and address the big issues to stay relevant. It’s been reported that they would like to shed some of their payroll, and instead of throwing all their money at one top-tier free agent, they’re looking to spend on a few very talented players. One player the Padres could have a big interest in is Jorge Soler. San Diego has shown they need a true designated hitter, and after the performance Soler had last season, it would be silly for the Padres not to give Jorge an offer. If the Padres decide to move on from Juan Soto, Soler could be the perfect replacement. Next to guys like Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and Fernando Tatis Jr, Jorge could add extra power to this already stacked lineup. San Diego should consider bringing Soler aboard.

Jorge Soler to the Toronto Blue Jays?

The Toronto Blue Jays had a solid 2023 season. They went 89-73 in a tough and competitive AL East division. Some important bats for the Jays are hitting free agency this offseason. Matt Chapman, Whit Merrifield, Kevin Kiermaier, and Brandon Belt will all hit the market. Toronto needs a great hitter with some power going into 2024. A veteran bat like Jorge Soler could be the answer. Last season, Toronto lost six of their final twelve games. If they had won two games, they would have placed fifth instead of sixth in the American League’s postseason bracket. This would have made this year’s champion Texas Rangers face the Minnesota Twins instead of the Tampa Bay Rays. Soler could be a cheaper and more viable answer for the Blue Jays problems.
