Jose Reyes shades Mickey Callaway after firing

The New York Mets’ decision to fire manager Mickey Callaway after just two seasons didn’t really surprise the masses.

Despite seeing his Mets in playoff contention late into the regular season, Callaway had been on the hot seat for some time. A contentious relationship with one of the team’s best players in Noah Syndergaard added to this dynamic.

It now appears that at least one former Mets player is happy about Callaway being fired. It comes in the form of Jose Reyes, who tweeted this out immediately following the announcement.

We’re not exactly too sure what happened behind the scenes between Reyes and Callaway, but this is an obvious shot at the former manager. It’s also all sorts of petty. Being happy another person lost his job is not a great look.

As it relates to Reyes, there’s no telling whether he’s even going to play again.

The 36-year-old four-time All-Star hit just .189 with four homers, 16 RBI and a .260 on-base percentage with the Mets back in 2018. He was out of baseball this past season.
