Juan Soto undergoes an MRI: the Mets are holding their breath

Juan Soto is obviously a key player for the Mets. The team, which has plenty of weaknesses and has built its lineup around a sense of uncertainty, is counting on him.

And yesterday, things went wrong.

In the first inning, the Mets' left fielder injured his right calf while running the bases. The Mets pulled him from the game, which is never a good sign.

The team announced that the player will undergo an MRI today (Saturday) to assess the severity of the injury. Everyone within the organization is holding their breath.

After all, losing a guy like him would hurt.

Marcus Semien was asked how a possible Juan Soto absence would impact the Mets:

“You never want to lose a guy like that. I don’t know how bad it is yet, but I know he works extremely hard and is going to get himself back as soon as possible.

It's worth noting that Juan Soto isn't really prone to injuries. The outfielder has played at least 150 games in each of his full seasons in Major League Baseball.

But sometimes, all it takes is one injury to change everything.

It's worth noting that Soto is off to an excellent start this season. His 0.6 WAR in eight games, his .355 batting average, and his 163 OPS+ show that he's come out swinging and ready to make a difference.
