The Detroit Tigers jumped all over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night as they extended their lead to 10-0 over their AL Central rivals in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Tigers' hot bats led the way for manager AJ Hinch's team as outfielder Kerry Carpenter put on a fireworks display for the return of center field Parker Meadows.
Meadows led off the game and recorded two hits as of the sixth inning in three at-bats while Carpenter, batting third on the night, slugged three home runs, knocking in five base runners while helping the Tigers seize control of the game.
Carpenter's performance included a historic footnote from the Tigers' X account as the game continued on.
"KERRY CARPENTER. HAT TRICK. First 3 HR game for us since Victor Martinez on 6/16/16," the Tigers' official X account wrote.

Carpenter served as the Tigers' designated hitter on the evening, taking a break from his outfielder duties with the free roaming Meadows back in center field and making his presence felt.
The Eustis, Florida native Carpenter improved his season totals to 56 hits and 13 home runs as Monday night's game continued on.
Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty turned in a solid outing, going six innings and giving up just four hits, one earned run and one walk while striking out four White Sox.
Dylan Smith filled in for Flaherty as the Tigers looked to close the door on the White Sox, who scored a run in the sixth inning to draw with nine runs at Rate Field.
