Kyle Schwarber took home MLB All-Star Game MVP honors on Tuesday, and he had some classy comments about winning it.
Schwarber went 3-for-3 and crushed three home runs in the swing-off that decided the game, which was tied at six through nine innings. That perfect performance, which propelled his side to victory, resulting in him receiving the MVP award for the game.
After winning the award, Schwarber spoke wth the media at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga., about matters.
“There’s a lot of guys who are way more deserving of this award,” Schwarber said, “but just happy we get a win with the National League and that it’s going to be coming home to Philly.”
Probably the player at the top of that list is Pete Alonso. Alonso slugged a 3-run home run in the sixth to put the NL up 5-0. He was one of the three players chosen to represent the NL in the swing-off, but Schwarber’s performance was so strong that the NL clinched the win before Alonso had a chance to hit in the tiebreaking event.
For those who missed it, here were the three dingers launched by Schwarber.
