After a 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves, the Philadelphia Phillies look to bounce back in their next outing against the Chicago Cubs. Following the game, designated hitterKyle Schwarber emphasized the team’s mindset despite a 2-7 homestand.
“Everyone in the dugout, everyone in the locker room, we’re all putting in the work,” Schwarber said. “We all want to keep getting better… it’s inevitable. At some point, it’s going to change.”
Schwarber led by example, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. While results have been inconsistent, his performance reflects the effort he described as the Phillies' aim to turn things around and regain momentum moving forward.

Schwarber’s message underscores that despite recent struggles, the Phillies believe they have the right personnel, high expectations, and a collective need to stop “chasing results” and instead focus on the work.
He has been a consistent force for the club, earning an All-Star selection last season and finishing second in National League MVP voting behind Shohei Ohtani. Schwarber appeared in all 162 games, posting a .240 batting average, a .365 on-base percentage, a .928 OPS, 56 home runs, and 132 RBIs.
This season, he has continued to produce, recording a .227 average, a .376 OBP, a .936 OPS, seven home runs, and 14 RBIs through 21 games. Known for his elite power, exceptional bat speed, and ability to draw walks, Schwarber remains a key contributor. His performance, paired with his leadership, highlights his value to both the Phillies and the league.
Schwarber has developed into one of the league’s premier left fielders and designated hitters. The Chicago Cubs selected him fourth overall in the 2014 MLB Draft out of Indiana University. He debuted in 2015 and played a key role in Chicago’s 2016 World Series championship team before being non-tendered after the 2020 season.
Schwarber split the 2021 season between the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox , enjoying a breakout stretch and providing a boost during Boston’s postseason push after a July trade. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in March 2022, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the lineup. In Philadelphia, he has earned All-Star and Silver Slugger honors, while helping lead the team to the 2022 World Series.
Most recently, He signed a five-year, $150 million contract extension in December 2025, keeping him with the Phillies through the 2030 season.
