Kyle Tucker Reveals Latest on Potential Chicago Cubs Contract Extension

When will Kyle Tucker decide if and when the Chicago Cubs can make him an offer?

The Cubs could offer him now, but if Tucker wants to hit free agency, the front office and ownership group cannot do much.

At the end of the day, the left-handed hitting slugger, who's been one of the top players in MLB, holds all the power.

When speaking to reporters about a potential deal, Tucker was asked if he had a deadline for the Cubs to present him with a deal. However, he noted that he hasn't considered it, which is concerning.

"I haven't thought about it that much," he said, per FOX. "I'm just trying to come out here and play. ... I'm just here to play baseball. I just let the other stuff fall where it is and see what happens."

In Tucker's defense, he has no reason to publicly declare his desire for an extension right now. However, that could potentially lower his asking price on the open market next winter.

He's also a winner.

Playing for the Houston Astros throughout the first seven years of his career, he wants to ensure he can continue winning championships. His comments about wanting to win have merit, too, as that's all he's done.

It's a challenging situation for the Cubs, and if Tucker isn't willing to discuss it, there isn't much to continue discussing.

All he can do is go out there and prove why he's a top 10 player in Major League Baseball, and his contract will look like that when the time comes.
