Look for Angels to lead hit parade

Nice Monday night here, as the under and our wide receiver parlay both easily came through. We keep the train rolling on Tuesday by turning to the diamond and looking to the bats.

Jose Ramirez, Mike Trout and Luis Rengifo 1+ hit each (+198 FanDuel)

Jose Ramirez is hitting .500 off Kansas City starter Daniel Lynch in 11 career plate appearances. Lynch has struggled against switch-hitters this season, allowing those he's faced to hit .338 in 76 appearances. Ramirez has four hits in his past three games and he's recorded a hit in 14 of the 16 games against the Royals this year, good for an 88% rate.

In six plate appearances against Oakland starter Cole Irvin, Mike Trout is hitting .750. The Angels slugger is hitting .297 against LHP compared to .269 off righties, so we see a slight boost tonight in Oakland. Trout has a hit in 23 of his last 30 games, and Irvin has been more generous to right-handed batters this season.

We stick in this game and load up on Luis Rengifo. Rengifo has gone three games in a row without a hit, the longest streak he's seen since May. This matchup offers a great opportunity for Rengifo to bounce back, as he has five singles and two homers off Irvin in 15 plate appearances. Rengifo is hitting much better against LHPs, coming into this with a .323 average vs. lefties compared to just .239 when seeing a righty on the rubber. Rengifo has a hit in 73% of games this year and he's averaging 1.0 hits per game against Oakland in 15 games.

C.J. Cron HR (+430 DK)

Cron has knocked two homers against Julio Urias in 23 plate appearances, and this game in Los Angeles is the only game of the day that is offering us a boost to homers. The L.A. wind tonight is projecting HRs to see an expected 15% increase, which makes us want a piece of the action. Cron has 29 home runs this season, with his preferred pitcher a lefty, which Urias is. 15 of the 21 homers Urias has allowed this season have come from right-handed batters. Give us Cron to blast one tonight.

In the news ...

QB news and notes ahead of Week 5 — As we guessed yesterday, Kenny Pickett is expected to be named the Pittsburgh starter in advance of the Steelers' Week 5 game with the Bills. Pickett is an intriguing look for Rookie of the Year if he can string together better statistics than the three interceptions, and zero touchdowns he threw this past Sunday. In other news, Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out for Week 5, and Panthers coach Matt Rhule left the door open for a Baker Mayfield benching in Carolina.

PGA Tour's third event of the year starts Thursday — The Shriners Children's Open tees off Thursday, an event that has historically given longshots a chance. Patrick Cantlay is the favorite at +600, having won on this course in 2017. We're looking at a sprinkle on Rickie Fowler to win at +6600. Fowler finished sixth at the Fortinet Championship two weeks ago and has had a pair of top-10 finishes on this course before.

A look at the NBA MVP futures market — YB's own Matt Wiesenfeld has been grinding on NBA futures, and his latest dives into the NBA MVP betting market. Luka Doncic is the favorite at +450, followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid at +700. Our favorite picks are Embiid at +700 and Ja Morant at +1300. Both Embiid and Morant had their best seasons yet, and if that success continues, voters may look to hand the award to a new winner.
