The Los Angeles Dodgers arguably have the strongest starting rotation in the MLB. They also have exceptional depth in the starting pitching department, which allows them to better cope with injury issues than others. The Dodgers currently have Blake Snell on the IL, but Justin Wrobleski has been outstanding in his position thus far.
To further bolster the starting pitching options on their roster, the Los Angeles Dodgers made a low-key trade for Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. They offered 20-year-old prospect Axel Perez to the Orioles in return for the right-handed pitcher. The move aligns with the Dodgers’ strategy of adding pitchers with untapped potential.
“The Dodgers acquired right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Orioles on Thursday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Axel Perez,” MLB.com reported. “McDermott, 27, made five appearances for Triple-A Norfolk this year, going 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA.”

McDermot was a fourth-round pick from the Houston Astros in 2021 before getting traded to the Baltimore Orioles the following year. He made his MLB debut in 2024, starting and allowing three runs in four innings.
The Colorado Rockies hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers for the opening clash of a four-game series on Friday evening. The temperature was 35 degrees when the first pitch was thrown at Coors Field in Game 1. Tyler Glasnow posted 7.0 innings, giving up just two hits and a run to help the Dodgers secure a 7-1 win over the Rockies.
“It’s not that different,” Glasnow said after the contest. “I don’t know. I’m usually super hot and sweaty, so it’s almost nice. My body temperature is so high to where I went out there and didn’t feel cold, didn’t sweat a ton. It was almost kind of nice.”
The Dodgers moved up to 15-4 for the season to extend the best record in the MLB this year. They have won 12 of the last 14 games with an ongoing four-game winning streak.
