The Los Angeles Dodgers' season has not been kind in terms of injury news. Already missing three frontline starters in Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Roki Sasaki with shoulder injuries, they have had to plug and play pitchers since the beginning of May.

Los Angeles did not receive good news on Friday when manager Dave Roberts announced that reliever  Evan Phillips will have to miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to Tommy John Surgery. A surgery and rehab process that will likely keep him out until at least June of 2026 as well.

Roberts indicated that Phillips tried to play catch this week and "it didn't go well". Phillips started the 2025 season on the Injured List with a rotator cuff problem, and then went down with elbow inflammation after pitching in seven games this season. He had thrown 5.2 innings and did not give up a run. No doubt a brutal blow to the Dodgers' bullpen, who could have used his return.

There also seems to be no timetable for Michael Kopech's and Blake Treinen's return, as they are also much needed in the back end of the Dodgers' pitching staff.

Phillips has turned his career around since joining the Dodgers in 2021. In three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024, Phillips appeared in more than 60 games. In 2022 and 2023, his ERA was below 2.10 in each season.

After this lengthy rehab, all of Dodgers Nation hopes to see Phillips back on the mound. He had those couple of years where he was a very reliable option for Los Angeles, and it sucks to see him have to go through an injury like this.
