Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has returned to the Diamondbacks lineup after an off day. Gurriel was pulled from Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Phillies with tightness in his left hamstring. Second baseman Ketel Marte, who left yesterday’s win over the Colorado Rockies is out of the lineup.

It’s good to see Gurriel back in the lineup, but the team needs to be careful with how aggressive they play him given the nature of hamstring injuries and the fact they have four capable outfielders.
After Monday’s game, manager Torey Lovullo said that Marte will undergo an MRI after reaggravating his left ankle injury. The MRI was scheduled for 2:15 P.M. MST, so there won’t be an update until after the Diamondbacks game against the Rockies according to The Arizona Republic‘s Nick Piecoro. Lovullo is still hopeful that his second baseman will avoid a stint on the injured list.
Weiner also reports that first baseman Christian Walker is asymptomatic and is about to begin tee work to start the rehab process. Walker has been down the past two weeks with a low-grade oblique strain. Josh Bell has admirably filled in over this stretch, batting .304 with four home runs and a 1.034 OPS, keeping the lineup moving despite it missing their best power bat and run producer.
