The Seattle Mariners took Game 2 of the ALDS on Sunday by a final score of 3-2, evening the series against the Detroit Tigers as it shifts to Comerica Park.
Julio Rodriguez has continued to deliver for the Mariners in the postseason, driving in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The 24-year-old center fielder has continued to produce in his fourth season in Seattle.
His second-half dominance helped lead the Mariners to the top of the AL West. Over 65 games after the All-Star break, Rodriguez posted a .290 batting average, .341 on-base percentage, .900 OPS, 18 home runs and 45 RBIs, continuing to operate as one of the league’s most underrated stars.
The Mariners announced Tuesday that Rodriguez’s go-ahead double during Game 2 extended his postseason on-base streak to seven games. Having played in exactly seven career playoff games, Rodriguez has reached base in every one.
The team also shared on X that he made franchise history and wrote, “Julio Rodríguez has reached base safely in each of his 7 career postseason games, including recording an extra-base hit in each of his last 5, which is a @Mariners record.”

Game Notes:
Rodriguez has continued to shine during limited opportunities on baseball’s biggest stage. His first postseason appearances came in 2022, during his rookie year, yet the Mariners were eliminated by the Houston Astros in three games.
Rodriguez is looking to help Seattle make a deep postseason run and include some postseason success in his list of accolades. He took home the 2022 AL Rookie of the Year, earned his third All-Star selection this year and has already captured two Silver Sluggers. Game 3 will be a huge matchup for Seattle as the club looks to push Detroit to the brink of elimination.
