The Miami Marlins announced great news prior to their series finale against the Texas Rangers.

The team has returned right-handed pitcher Eury Pérez from his minor league rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day injured list.

Pérez has been out on the injured list for the Marlins since May 29 with a right gracilis strain.

Pérez seemingly injured himself in the dugout before going back out for the fifth inning in a game against the Blue Jays on May 27.

After close to a month down, Pérez pitched in one minor league rehab start where he went 3 2/3 innings while only allowing one run and striking out five.

Pérez is set to make his return to the Miami mound on Wednesday against the Rangers.

Pérez was not pitching like his usually self before his injury to start off his 2026 campaign.

In 12 starts, Pérez pitched to the tune of a 4.60 ERA with 72 strikeouts and a 1.26 WHIP in 62 2/3 innings pitched.

The 23-year-old had a very rough second half of the 2025 season, but pitched to a 3.18 ERA prior to the All-Star break. In his career, he holds a 3.93 ERA with 285 strikeouts in 249.1 innings. The right-hander has never pitched more than 100 innings in one season.

The team hopes he can get back to his 2023 form which saw him post a 3.15 ERA in his rookie season. However, the team's pitching staff has performed well regardless, posting a 4.07 ERA as a unit, which ranks 11th in the league.

As a corresponding move to Pérez's reinstatement, the team also announced the demotion of left-handed pitcher Dax Fulton.

This move may come as shocking to some, as Fulton performed very well in his short time with the major league team.

In three appearances out of the bullpen for the Marlins, the 24-year-old pitched to a 2.57 ERA with six strikeouts, a 0.86 WHIP and only two earned runs allowed through seven innings.

Fulton will likely be back with the team at some point this season following this stretch, but they likely wanted the young pitcher to continue his development before committing to him.

The Marlins currently sit third in the National League East division with a 41-39 record. They are a young and fun team that has a real shot to make the postseason even in a crowd division and league.

Eury Pérez will try to keep the ship rolling as he makes his first start back from the injured list against the Rangers on Wednesday at 12:10 p.m.
